As a young Muslim director from Northwest, Ohio, I describe myself as an introvert who uses other people's stories to express myself and to tell my own. While I bring light to others, I am searching for my own light, which inspires my obsession with "dark tone" films. As a method director and editor, I grow; when shots shift in tone, they reflect my daily introspection. Tasked with continuous self-reflection and purposeful direction, I am better able to connect the dots when behind a camera.

Before I found film, I felt I was behind a false identity—a mask of who I truly was. Filmmaking became my escape; it was not about the camera, but the perspective behind it. My life comprises multiple angles: academically, I am an artist balancing the sciences; culturally, I am Afghan, balancing the American lifestyle. Through this duality, I bring harmony as I pursue my purpose. While the product is essential, the process is equally significant. With film, I find a space where that inward search becomes a piece of outward art. Directing has taught me to manage chaos and lead a team toward a shared vision. This path is about spotlighting others and myself, revealing reality, asking questions, and capturing moments that help me see a little more clearly.
